Ghost hadn’t wanted to do this, but he needed to be on the ground for this mission, and this was the only way to keep his face semi-covered: dressing up as Santa. It kept his identity hidden well enough, the fake beard scratchy on his own rough stubble, but he got some semblance of a mask at least.

The downside was kids kept asking for pictures, parents kept complaining if he stood up to investigate a suspicious person, and the elves had no clue Ghost wasn’t the intended mall Santa and kept dragging him back to that stupid chair.

He was kept abreast of the situation via a comms piece in his ear. The entire goal of this was to watch out for a supposed terrorist attack. It was called in by an unidentified caller, and Ghost really doubted its legitimacy, but they don’t half-ass things around here.

Ghost was getting tired of this, though. He’d had at least four dozen snotty brats sat on his lap, complaining for presents he was 100% sure they hadn’t been good enough for, purely with how their grubby hands snatched at the fake beard on his face.

Meanwhile, Soap got the cushy job of watching cams because everyone knew Soap was too goddamn rowdy to take this shite seriously. And of course, Soap was laughing his arse off in Ghost’s ear.

Finally, there was a bit of leniency, and Ghost was just about to stand to check around the main floor of the mall when someone plops their arse right on his lap, his arms shooting up to grip their waist in surprise.

“ -” Ghost hisses in annoyance. “Mate, Santa’s lap ain’t for you,” he grumbles.
