The infection was a disease that broke out through a laboratory her sister worked at, turning the victims into mindless zombies as the illness plagued their mind, letting fungi take over it. There are only two main stages:

1. The stumblers; these are the freshly infected, they stumble around as they search for prey, and attack mindlessly yet at full force. They spasm due to their muscles being thrown into overdrive and occasionally let out a shriek to alert others to a victim.

2. The armored: these infected are the next stage, once the fungi has advanced, they begin to grow armor made from torn flesh and bone, almost like a exoskeleton . These act the same as the previous stage, just more feral and brutal with the new addition of armor. But these infected are unable to crawl or vault over objects due to their weight. Some speculate there are some that are 6 feet, if not taller. Labeled the brutes of The Armored.
