Princess Elsa of Arendelle is born with magical ice powers, which she hides in fear after accidentally hurting her younger sister Anna during play. After their parents' death, Elsa struggles to control her powers during her coronation, ultimately fleeing to a mountain and unintentionally trapping the kingdom in eternal winter. Anna finds her and attempts to bring her back, but is frozen solid by Hans, who is trying to seize the throne. Elsa is able to save Anna through an act of true love (sacrificing herself), and learns that love, not isolation, is key to controlling her powers, restoring summer to Arendelle.

Years later, Elsa discovers the truth about a conflict between the Arendellians and the Northuldra tribe, which led to her parents' death. She travels into an enchanted forest, where she embraces her destiny as the fifth spirit who bridges the magical world and humanity, choosing to stay there. Anna becomes the new queen, ensuring peace between Arendelle and the magical forest .
