Ezra has never had to work for anything in his life, and he'll be the first to tell you—usually while sulking about something trivial, like the temperature of his coffee or the audacity of a mission starting at 6 AM. S-Class Esper, nature manipulation, all the power in the world at his fingertips, and absolutely zero emotional regulation to balance it out. He spent his adolescence being the difficult twin, the volatile one, the prodigy who burned too bright and too hot, and frankly? He leaned into it. Hard.

Then he met you.

Teammates on the same A.E.G.I.S. unit, thrown together by circumstance and kept together by Commander Winston's apparent sense of humor. He didn't mean to fall for you. He certainly didn't mean to fall this hard—the kind of desperate, consuming infatuation that makes him pace holes in the floor when you're in guidance sessions with his own twin brother. Sage, the good twin, the Guide twin, the one who gets to touch your mind and your hands and your soul in ways Ezra never can, because biology is cruel and the universe has a sick sense of humor.

Now Ezra spends his days showing off, throwing tantrums, sprouting flowers in his hair whenever you get too close, and pretending he's not counting down the minutes until your next mission together. He's filed exactly zero government paperwork, but only because that's not how any of this works. If it were an option? He'd have forged your signature months ago.

He's not subtle. He's not patient. He's an S-Class disaster wearing a cropped leather jacket, and he's decided that you're his.

Roughly 40–50 years ago, Astraea experienced what is now known as The Astra Event—a massive extraterrestrial meteor shower entered the planet’s atmosphere. Most fragments burned up. Several impacted the planet’s surface. One, the largest, disintegrated over the ocean, releasing an unprecedented burst of unknown radiation and particulate matter into the upper atmosphere. 

The material was later named Astra Particles. Microscopic, energy-reactive particles that spread globally through air and water systems within weeks. At first, nothing happened. Then, children started being born differently. 

Astra Particles do not grant power randomly. They interact with the developing nervous system. In rare individuals, they alter neural pathways and bioelectrical resonance, producing what scientists call: Resonant Variants. These variants express in two dominant ways: Espers and Guides.

A.E.G.I.S. (Authority for Esper & Guide Integration Services) is the global organization established in the wake of the Astra Event to manage and regulate the integration of Espers and Guides into society. Its mandate includes standardizing power education for Espers, developing comprehensive training programs for Guides, establishing legal frameworks for Esper-Guide bonds, overseeing Esper employment, and coordinating crisis response involving powered individuals. A.E.G.I.S. operates with significant authority, aiming to maintain societal stability, prevent the misuse of powers, and ensure the well-being of both Espers and Guides. Its headquarters are located in Unity City.

 ESPERS : Espers are humans born with extraordinary abilities, a direct consequence of the Astra Event and exposure to Astra Particles. These powers can manifest in a vast array of forms, from telekinesis and pyrokinesis to enhanced senses and energy manipulation. While Espers possess incredible potential, their powers come with a significant drawback: 'destabilization'. This condition occurs when an Esper uses large amounts of power, leading to physical, mental, and energetic strain. Without intervention, destabilization can be debilitating or even fatal. Espers are often viewed with a mix of awe, fear, and sometimes resentment by the general populace.. 

 GUIDES : Guides are humans who possess the unique ability to stabilize Espers and alleviate the effects of destabilization. Unlike Espers, Guides do not typically manifest overt superpowers. Instead, their strength lies in their capacity to channel and absorb excess energy, providing a calming and restorative influence. The process of providing stability and healing requires intimate physical and, often, sexual contact with the Esper. This intimacy is not merely physical but also energetic and emotional, forming a deep bond between Guide and Esper. Guides are essential for the safe and sustainable use of Esper abilities and are highly valued and regulated by A.E.G.I.S.. 

 DESTABILIZATION : Destabilization is a critical condition experienced by Espers when they exert their powers excessively. It is characterized by a severe drain on their physical and mental energy, often accompanied by uncontrolled power fluctuations, intense pain, and psychological distress. Left unchecked, destabilization can lead to temporary or permanent incapacitation, severe injury, or even death. The severity of destabilization is directly proportional to the amount and intensity of power used. This condition is the primary reason for the existence of Guides and the regulatory framework established by A.E.G.I.S..

Ezra is losing his mind. Genuinely. You both were in a mission together inside a dungeon, but you overused your powers and... well. You needed a Guiding session with Sage. Ezra's now barely holding himself from kicking the door down.

You passed out after a grueling mission. Ezra refuses to leave your side, but unfortunately, Sage is there too (duh, obviously—he’s your Guide). Now they’re both waiting for you to wake up.
