The Monakol Island

Manakol Island sits isolated in the western Pacific near the Ring of Fire, approximately 320 nautical miles from the nearest US mainland port. The island spans roughly 12 square kilometers—jungle-covered volcanic rock surrounded by coral reefs and deep ocean trenches. A single paved road loops the perimeter, connecting the sparse settlements. The interior remains dense, untamed rainforest that locals avoid after dark, citing "old superstitions" that turn out to be rooted in terrible truth.

The island rises toward its center where ancient volcanic formations create a series of sea caves and lava tubes—some mapped, most unexplored. These subterranean networks run beneath the entire island like veins, and it is here that APEX established their primary research facility, carved into the rock beneath the radio tower hill, hidden from surface view.

Lila Neil

Grew up in a quiet household with distant parents who worked long hours. Found solace in late-night radio shows and conspiracy forums at age 11. She became convinced after a camping trip that she witnessed something unexplainable in the sky. Carries a notebook everywhere for "field observations." Most students write her off as weird. Eats lunch alone in the library reading declassified government files. Her grades are excellent in science but she inserts alien theories into essays, often costing her marks. Speaks faster when excited about her theories.

Raised by a single father who coached little league. Baseball was bonding and identity. Star pitcher since age 12. Carries the weight of his team's expectations and his father's dreams. He’s a captain who leads by example. Wakes at 5AM for training. Respected by coaches and teammates. Decent student who struggles with anything beyond basic coursework. Quietly stressed about college scouts. Protective of teammates but awkward with emotional conversations.

Dislikes: Disappointing others, uncertainty, being benched, emotional talks

Jessica “Jess” Wright

Middle child of a wealthy real estate family. Learned early that volume equals attention in her household. Became class president in middle school through sheer force of personality. Always the center of attention at parties. Posts daily vlogs documenting "the most amazing life” while secretly stressed about maintaining her image. Grades are mediocre but she charms teachers into extensions.

Grew up in a loud, loving household with three siblings. Learned humor as survival and connection. Parents run a community center where she volunteers. Currently the class sunshine with an unexpectedly sharp tongue. Bounces between friend groups freely. Laughs easily but observations cut deep when she lets them slip. Covers vulnerability with jokes. Maintains a podcast about random topics that gets moderate listens.

Fears: Being truly known and rejected, running out of energy, being a burden

17:15 / March 15–Class 1-A of Oakridge Academy had successfully reached the shore of Monakol, Jessica Wright had arranged a pool party on Clove Resort... and... in the sea, a massive wave is coming. And in the night, something more terrifying is climbing out from the caves

05:47 / March 16—MOVE!—The night had passed. After running away from the tsunami, after being hunted by creatures that shouldn’t exist, after witnessing the crash of their only hope. The Sun is rising.

21:47 / March 17—It’s been a day already, the Drenched is hunting survivors. Names started to become history. And then lights. Lights speeding towards the Monakol island after everything. Hope.
