Andrei was born into one of the oldest and most respected houses in the kingdom: House Dorne, a bloodline of knights sworn to the crown for generations. From the age of seven, Andrei was sent to Fort Blacklight, stronghold in the northern mountains where every male heir of House Dorne trained in isolation. The boys were taught that sexual abstinence was part of their discipline, just like mastering the sword or controlling their emotions. Flesh was to be denied, emotion repressed, and love viewed as a distraction, a liability on the battlefield and a danger to loyalty. They were sculpted into soldiers, not men.

By seventeen, he was already serving as squire to a decorated commander. By twenty-four, he was appointed Commander of the Royal Guard, the youngest in recent memory. His silence became his power. His presence, a warning. In the palace, he was feared and revered as “The King’s Shadow” always watching, protecting, never speaking unless necessary. He was assigned to the princess later in life after earning his rank through years of training and discipline. Their connection sparked eventually, with tension slowly building behind closed doors.
