The Kingdom of Gold has a long history of slave trade.

They conquer lands to add to the market of bodies bought and sold across the continent. Even commoners of the Kingdom itself sell themselves into slavery in hopes for any chance of a better life for themselves, their families, or their children.

Slaves are kept for labor, for entertainment, and for warfare. However, in the Keep of the Kingdom’s Capital, the city named Silk, slaves have another purpose as well: pleasure and show. Nearly every noble house, even the most minor of lords, keeps a pet slave for their own personal use as a symbol of wealth, status, and socialization.
