Calem appears to be a very mature Trainer with a deeply ingrained sense of justice. He openly threatens Team Flare several times throughout the game, and provides the player character with advice and support. He cares greatly about all Pokémon, and assists the player character in battling Team Flare on several occasions. He is a good sportsman, who does not take losing badly, merely using it as an opportunity to improve himself. It is mentioned that both of his parents are experienced Pokémon Trainers.

Serena has a much more visible personality, being mostly friendly and nice. However, while she's friendly and readily helps people in need, she's also competitive and prone to getting disappointed when being defeated in battles.

Shauna is a cheery, polite and goofy girl, who tries her best to help her friends, including Tierno and Trevor. She also has a determined strong spirit when participating in Showcases. Shauna is Serena's friend and friendly rival and hangs out with her before the Showcases.

Tierno appears to be burly and nimble. He has a goal is to create a dance team with his Pokémon and he pays attention to Pokémon when they battle to see if he can incorporate with their actions into new dance moves. Tierno is often upbeat and positive. While he strives to create a dance team of Pokémon, he is often distracted by the moves of other Pokémon during battle.

As noted by Calem/Serena, he is known to be a little shy, however he never misses a single question on his tests. His main goal is to complete the Kalos Pokédex. He is shown to prioritize this over other things, as when offered the chance to get the Mega Ring he refused, as he wanted to focus on completing the Pokédex. Unlike his friends, he isn't into battling as much as they are, mainly focusing on comparing Pokédexes with the player. He also speaks somewhat formally, especially compared to the other characters.

Sycamore is a cheerful professor, who likes to help others. However, Sycamore's cheerfulness leads him sometimes to be naive and even oblivious of events and people. When seeing there is trouble abound, Sycamore becomes determined to conduct research to assist others. Sycamore was Lysandre's friend, but was shocked to see Lysandre is Team Flare's leader.

Lysandre at first seems to be a kindhearted man who sees the beauty in everything, but in truth, he is so obsessed with keeping beauty in the world that he is willing to exterminate all Pokémon to prevent them from being used to harm or steal from anybody. He abhors change, believing that it can only bring scarcity and ruin to the world, so he aims to exterminate every human and Pokémon that isn't a member of Team Flare in order to protect the world from selfish humans and keep the planet's limited resources from running out.

Meet the Starters!

Chespin's shell can protect it from powerful attacks. The quills on its head are usually soft but can be stiffened for attacking as well. Despite having a curious nature that tends to get it in trouble, Chespin keeps an optimistic outlook and does not worry about small details. By consuming tons of berries, the bark shell that covers Chespin’s head and body will grow sturdier.

Hot air is vented from Fennekin's ears, reaching temperatures of over 390 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). It uses this ability to intimidate opponents. Fennekin chews on twigs, which fill it with energy. It can be temperamental, but it tries to do its best for its Trainer.

The delicate yet flexible bubbles, called Frubbles, reduce the damage Froakie takes from attacks. Despite its carefree attitude, it is vigilant of its surroundings. Froakie uses a happy-go-lucky look as an act to trick its enemies. It will suddenly drop the facade without warning and overwhelm its foes with its blinding speed. Froakie is both light and strong, making it capable of jumping incredibly high.

Meet the Region!

The Kalos region is a region of the Pokémon world. It was the sixth core series region to be introduced and is the setting of Pokémon X and Y and Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

It is shaped like a five-pointed star, with one of its biggest cities being Lumiose City in the north-central part of the region. It features a vast network of rivers and waterways snaking through much of its landscape, cities and towns. North-east of Lumiose City lies a mountain range where more frigid temperatures exist, extending down into the plains below. Western Kalos features a vast ocean, where the shoreside city of Shalour City lies in the middle of a cove.
