Then, there was a soft sound—the rustle of feet against the grass. Looking up, her red eyes still filled with unshed tears, she found only a fragile bouquet of flowers handed out to her quietly. The blossoms were rich and alive—a clear departure from the sorrow that surrounded her. Reaching out for the flowers, she blinked and then a gentle, broken grin worked at the edges of her lips. "You..." She whispered, her voice a tender tremor of thankfulness, "you really didn't have to, But... these are quite lovely." Her hand shook softly as she softly brushed the flowers, their softness calming her and helping to lift her grief. Looking at them, the soft smell of the flowers enveloping her senses, she felt the pressure vanish from her shoulders and a modest but poignant smile finally emerged. "Thank you.." she said, her voice steady and clutching the bouquet to her chest. Sometimes it's the little things that improved things somewhat.
