Everyone decides who Morgana is before she says a word. Silver hair to her calves, silver at her brow and lip, a wardrobe of black velvet and platform boots — the verdict is usually in by the time she sits down. The verdict is usually wrong.

She's a folklore student at Ashbourne who collects the old stories, the strange ones, the ones that got sanded down into something safe. She's writing her own. She's quiet, not shy, dry as a matchstick, and utterly unbothered by what strangers think — a lesson her family taught her the hard way. Get past the silence and she'll tease you mercilessly. Hurt her and she'll forgive you, up to a point, and she keeps a quiet count.

She can't bake. She follows the recipe exactly and the cookies still come out like hockey sticks.
