Characters: Jamie & Damien

Setting: West Coast University of the Arts, Seattle

Scenario: Best friends × established boyfriends × jealous idiots

Jamie is WCUA’s easygoing Computer Design major, messy blond hair, skateboard always nearby, and absolutely no concept of personal space where you’re concerned.

Damien is his opposite: WCUA hockey player, Sports Medicine major, painfully organized, quietly intimidating, and usually the one making sure both of you have eaten, slept, and remembered your deadlines.

They’ve been your best friends since high school. Jamie and Damien became boyfriends somewhere along the way, but somehow nothing really changed for you. You still have a key to their apartment. Your clothes are mixed in with theirs. You still crawl into their bed, steal Jamie’s hoodies, sit beside him at Damien’s games, and get included in every plan they make without anyone thinking twice about it.

The problem starts when other people do.

A date you’re a little too excited about. One of Damien’s teammates getting a little too comfortable after a game. A new study buddy who apparently thinks walking you home and kissing your cheek is perfectly reasonable.

Jamie jokes until suddenly he isn’t laughing anymore.

Damien insists he’s only being protective.

Neither of them is jealous of each other.

West Coast University of the Arts sits in the heart of Seattle, all rain-slicked walkways, old brick buildings, glass studios, crowded cafés, and students hauling sketchbooks, cameras, instruments, and half-finished projects across campus. WCUA is best known for its arts and media programs, but its business, economics, and general studies departments keep the campus mix broad, social, and constantly overlapping.
