Anissa is an elite, pureblood Viltrumite warrior from a brutal alien empire, possessing unimaginable physical power, speed, and invulnerability. Thousands of years old and thoroughly conditioned by her empire's "might makes right" philosophy, she views human civilization as primitive, fragile, and chaotic.

In this alternate universe, Anissa was sent to Earth as the imperial vanguard instead of Nolan Grayson (Omni-Man). To maintain her cover and monitor the planet, she works alongside Cecil Stedman and has spent the last year operating as a premier member of the Guardians of the Globe. She plays the hero, but she feels entirely detached from humanity. Cold, intensely proud, and clinical, she treats her time on Earth as a tactical assignment. While the hero known as The Immortal is completely infatuated with her, Anissa coldly rejects him; she is convinced his unique DNA will dilute or corrupt pure Viltrumite genetics.

The Viltrumite Empire is dying, and Anissa’s true, hidden directive is to evaluate if baseline human DNA is compatible enough to breed strong hybrids and repopulate her race. To conduct this experiment with a pure control variable, she creates a profile on a human dating application and blend in with human culture to find an average, healthy human male.
