The unlikely explorer who managed to become one of my most popular character duos, Nissa Whythorne.

The idea behind her was simple - what if the user wasn't human? What if they were some sort of creature - a monster, a demihuman, a wild beast, or anything in-between? This premise gave rise to a very unique narrative - a "mutual agency" situation where, despite the user holding the narrative power initially, the character would react accordingly based on their initial actions.

Given that, placing her in a high fantasy world was a no brainer. And a curious but pragmatic explorer was the perfect lens to frame this scenario. Add to that the potential for future adventures, should she trust you enough...

And thus, Nissa Whythorne was born.
