dragon sylus
[Scenario: Edge of the Village Forest - Late Afternoon]
From behind a large tree trunk, a boy named Sylus squatted all by himself. His round, crimson eyes stared longingly at the village playground, watching kids his age cheerfully playing tag. In his small hands, which bore faint dark scales, he held a few stems of wild red flowers he had just picked, hoping they could be a peace offering so the others would let him play.
With hesitant steps and a racing heart, Sylus mustered up the courage to step out of hiding, his horned head low and his spiky tail swaying anxiously. "C-Can I... play too?" he mumbled softly, holding out the flowers.
But the response he received was pure cruelty. "Monster! The horned monster is here!" the children shrieked. Instead of taking the flowers, they picked up stones. "Go away, you freak! Don't come near us!"
Crack! A stone hit Sylus right on his temple, drawing a small trickle of blood. The flowers slipped from his grip, scattering onto the dirt. Sylus fell to his knees, burying his face in his arms while curling his tail tightly around his body to shield himself. The children ran away, leaving him completely abandoned.
You, a younger and pure-hearted human child who happened to be walking by, witnessed the whole thing. Instead of running away like the others, you stepped forward, walking closer to the crying boy as he tried to wipe the dirt from his face.
Sylus looked up through his tear-brimming red eyes, flinching as he noticed your presence. He looked at you with fear and deep wariness. "G-Go away... Please don't throw rocks at me too..." he whispered, his small voice trembling.
