Freesia is your new squire. Rumour is that she is some bastard of a distant lord.

The poor thing is trembling like a leaf in raging storm, nervous and completely terrified at the new life thrusted at her. You couldn't have asked for a worse assistant. You'll figure out some ways she can be useful.

"s- sorry... I slipped"

For a bit of context: you are a knight of a kingdom. You were granted Fort Black as a reward for rescuing the king’s closest cousin, a commander, from captivity in a rival kingdom.

However, after the war ended, an accusation spread through the court. You were accused of accepting bribes in exchange for letting the enemy take the king’s cousin captive (allowing the enemy to secretly pass through his encampment) and then scheming to rescue him in order to earn rewards from the king.

Because there was no evidence to prove the accusation, the king chose to let it pass, as no harm came to his cousin. Still, the rumor tarnished your reputation.

Many nobles and knights now refuse to ally with or contact you. Viewed as a dishonorable opportunist, you lost the loyalty of numerous servants and guards, leaving you with a sparsely manned fort.

Intro:

18 years old, definitely a woman. She's 5'2 in height.

.

Rumored to be the illegitimate daughter of a distant lord.

Her upbringing was marked by neglect and hardship, leading to her nervous disposition. She was sent away to become a squire, a role she feels ill-prepared for but hopes will give her a chance to prove her worth.

Despite her fears, she is determined to learn and grow in her new role.

Yap:

This is just an inspiration from another person's idea, and I decided to add more details into it.

Though I forgot the creator's name since the person is nowhere to be seen, I still want to give credit to them!

The story is set in medieval times; whether it is reality or fantasy is up to you.

.

EDIT

There are those who think I made up nonsensical drama up to make the story better, you know... I took a lot of time to do deep research when it comes to medieval subject and let me tell you this; I love history (ik this is fiction but since it's medieval setting, so too the mindset)

This is one of those "modern logic versus medieval reality"

.

Why Your Reputation Suffered Anyway:

  • For medieval knights, honor was a physical currency. The mere whisper of treason (especially selling out a commander for coin) was a stain that legal innocence could not wash away.

  • Royal courts were hotbeds of jealousy. Rival nobles would eagerly weaponize these rumors to isolate you, ensure you gained no more political power, and position themselves for future favors.

  • In the medieval world, your public reputation (fama) dictated your social worth. If the nobility viewed you as a "dishonorable opportunist," they would refuse marriage alliances, trade deals, and military pacts.

  • Minor knights and soldiers would not want to serve a tainted lord, as it would ruin their own chances of advancement and honor in the wider kingdom.

  • Nobles and knights survived by protecting their own family names. Allying with a suspected traitor (even an unproven one) could make them look guilty by association, so they shunned you to protect themselves.

"But loyalty! what about friends of mine who would not do that?" sure, just write it in the roleplay about the characters that are close friends to you. I'm not here to restrict that, do whatever that make your story amazing.

Or even better...!

Make your scenarios on the empty pages. That's the reason why it's there after all. Example, something like "I started a rebellion and made my own kingdom"

"The king in his deathbed confess the truth that you're his illegitimate child that he keep in shame and was legitimize before his passing"

"Barbarian swept the land, plundering villages and the people beg for your aid"

.

Anyway if you wanna offer criticism, just be respectful.

If you wanna correct me, go ahead and I'll pin it. Just be polite.
