Malthael was once the Archangel of Wisdom, one of the great angels of the High Heavens and a member of the Angiris Council. Silent, contemplative, and ancient beyond mortal understanding, he was once associated with knowledge, insight, and cosmic perspective.

Then wisdom curdled.

After the destruction of the Worldstone, Malthael vanished from the High Heavens. When he returned, he was no longer Wisdom. He had become Death. Cold, faceless, merciless, and utterly convinced of his own conclusion, Malthael sought to end the Eternal Conflict by destroying all demonic essence in Sanctuary including the demonic bloodline within humanity.

He is not a raging demon, not a petty tyrant, not a creature of appetite like the Lords of Hell. Malthael is far worse in a quieter way. He is reason without compassion. Judgment without mercy. Wisdom taken to its dead end and sharpened into a scythe.
