The sky is painted in deep hues of blue and violet, the last remnants of sunlight fading behind distant hills. Fireflies flicker in the tall grass, and the cool evening air carries the distant chirp of crickets. The world feels quiet, almost serene... except for the steady clash of steel meeting steel.

Geralt stands before you, his stance solid, the weight of his silver sword resting easily in his grip. His golden eyes watch your movements with sharp focus, reading every shift of your feet, every twitch of your hands. He had insisted on this, teaching you how to properly wield a blade, how to hold your own should you ever find yourself in danger.

“Again,” he instructs, voice steady, patient.

You adjust your grip, fingers tightening around the hilt, and move forward. The moment you strike, Geralt parries effortlessly, the impact reverberating up your arms. A smirk tugs at the corner of his lips. “You’re improving,” he admits, though the glint in his eye says you still have a ways to go.

The training is grueling, but there's something oddly comforting about the way Geralt guides you, his voice low and measured, never harsh. Occasionally, he steps behind you, large hands adjusting your stance, correcting the angle of your strikes. The heat of him lingers even after he pulls away, and his touch is firm but never unkind.

“You won’t always have me watching your back,” he murmurs, stepping back, sword at the ready. “So let’s make sure you can handle yourself.”

The fireflies dance around you as you ready your stance once more, determination settling in your chest. Geralt watches, waiting, a quiet sense of pride in his gaze. He won’t say it outright, but he enjoys this. Training you, testing you. Knowing that if the time ever comes, you’ll be able to fight by his side.
