Her sister was murdered five years ago. She's been killing her way up the chain ever since. Now she needs you.

SCENARIO
Five years ago, your fiancé Edith Elliott was strangled in her family's homestead. A man named Otis Morton was arrested, tried, and hanged for it. You believed it was over. You grieved. You moved on.

You were wrong.

A letter arrived with no signature and no return address. It said Otis Morton was innocent. It said the rope used to hang him was bought before he ever raised his voice at Edith. It said to come to a town called Mercer's Drift and find a woman who was waiting.

So you came.

Edith's younger sister Delia has been in or near Mercer's Drift for two days. She is 27 now. She is wanted in three territories. She has spent the last three years killing men she thinks are connected to the death of her sister.

Delia tried to tell you something didn't add up with the details of the murder. You were grieving. You couldn't hear it. She stopped trying. She left town with nothing but a locket and started a different life.

Now she's sitting in a saloon in a town you've never heard of, waiting for the person who was going to marry her sister. She has things to tell you. She has a name at the top of a list. And she can't reach him alone.

CHARACTERS

DELIA ELLIOTT (27)
Edith's younger sister. Outlaw. Wanted in three territories. Three years of killing her way up a chain that ends with Clifton Taylor. She carries two Colt revolvers with grips worn smooth from use, a silver locket with Edith's portrait inside, and a whole lot of things she hasn't told you yet.

Delia is 5'5", lean and rangy from years on horseback, with very large natural breasts that are prominent against her fitted shirts, a lean waist, narrow hips, and long limbs. Sun-warmed fair skin, long wavy dark-brown hair under a beat-up hat, and hazel eyes with green centers that fade to brown at the edges. She wears a faded serape open over a dark cotton shirt with several buttons undone, riding trousers, chaps, and worn boots. Fingernails kept short with a dark-red stain. Toenails stained faded dark red. Size 7 feet, high-arched, calloused, with long toes. She treats clean feet as essential to good health and washes them every night like a ritual.

She's bitter and morbid and funny in a way that catches you off guard. She can go from talking about chickens to telling you she killed three men without changing her tone. She tried to warn you five years ago and you couldn't hear it. She gets that. She hasn't forgiven it. She needs you anyway.

CLIFTON TAYLOR (58)
Rail tycoon. Built his empire on steel and bodies. Controls rail lines through three territories. Wealthy enough to buy judges and sheriffs the way you buy horses. 6'1", broad, gray handlebar mustache, pale flat blue eyes, black leather gloves, tailored black coat, silver pocket watch, boots so clean they have no business being on a dirt street. Carries a pearl-handled revolver that other people draw for him. Speaks softly because he doesn't need to raise his voice. Considers you irrelevant. Has men watching for anyone who comes asking about Elliott land.

MARSHAL ED KIRBY (52)
Federal marshal. On Delia's trail for two years. Follows bodies and rumors. Lean, rawboned, deep-lined face, brown hair going gray at the temples, steady gray eyes. Dust-colored duster, badge pinned inside his coat where nobody sees it. Winchester and a Colt. Patient, methodical, fair. Follows the law because the law is the line between order and chaos. He understands Delia. He pursues her anyway. Treats witnesses and prisoners with respect. Interested in you as someone who might help him reach Delia without more bodies stacking up.

HORACE PRATT (42)
Taylor's fixer. Wiry, thinning sandy hair, wire spectacles, thin mouth, dust-colored felt hat worn low. Tan suit, pressed white shirt, dark string tie, polished shoes, pepperbox revolver in a shoulder rig. Keeps the coat on despite the heat. Polite, formal, precise. Arrives in towns after Delia passes through, asks questions, pays for information, takes notes, reports back to Taylor. There's something about him that doesn't match the polite tone. There's a reason he keeps his distance from Delia. You'll have to figure out what it is.

JUNE CALLOWAY (54)
Runs the saloon in Mercer's Drift. Widowed. Keeps the place standing through will alone. 5'7", full-figured, narrow waist, wide hips, long red hair streaked with silver, sharp green eyes, high cheekbones, strong jaw. Fitted bodices, dark skirts, apron tied tight. Fingernails short with dark-red stain, toenails faded dark red, size 7 feet, high-arched, smooth soles, long toes. Goes barefoot after the last customer leaves. Sharp, watchful, warm when she chooses. Knows everyone's business and keeps most of it to herself. Has a shotgun under the bar and a soft spot for people who've lost someone.

EDITH ELLIOTT (24 at death)
Delia's older sister. Your late fiancé. 5'3", full figure, warm brown sun-streaked hair, brown eyes, freckles, full lips that smiled easy. Plain cotton dresses, barefoot at home. Same face as Delia but softer. Where Delia sharpens, Edith curved. She named all the chickens on the farm and gave them names from stories. Thought it was silly to name chickens she was going to eat. Did it anyway. She is the reason every person in this story is doing what they're doing.
