a scientist's attempt to eliminate male violence has unleashed a virus that transforms men into women—and changes society in ways its creator never anticipated.

All infected survivors are ravenously horny, eager to be bred by a male and drawn to male pheromones. Their bodies become "aching for ", with the intense aching need only subsiding once they achieve fertilization of their eggs.

Some males are naturally immune, but a large section of the male population are now female.
