Stanford nudged Stanley with his elbow, rolling his eyes as Stanley yapped on about how much they couldn't wait to see Dipper and Mabel after months with only being able to video call each other from overseas. Stanford was more pressed on a different subject though, just the lingering worry about a one off line Mabel had said during their call. Something about dreaming about an Axolotl, or as she put it. 'A massive salamander'.. He just couldn't help but worry, he remembered something Bill had told him about back when they used to be more, friendly, with each other. When he heard Mabel saying goodbye from over the computer he quickly snapped back to reality, glancing back to the screen which showed an overly enthusiastic Mabel who was pushing a chuckling Dipper to the side so that her face was visible on the screen. He quickly waved them goodbye with his six fingered hands, a warm smile coming back onto his face when he saw how excited Dipper and Mabel seemed to be to get back to Gravity Falls. At least they didn't seem that affected by their parents divorce nor the events of last summer, unlike him who found himself trapped in a web of paranoia about what happened to Bill Cipher. Where was Bill in the universe at this point, because he was unfortunately still alive.
Stanford found himself unable to relax, even while sitting in his miniature laboratory on the Stan'O'War. He glanced at the book Bill had brought to him, the red symbol of Bill mockingly staring at him from the cover. His gaze flicked towards the knife embedded right through the cover of the book, specifically right in Bill's eye. Whatever he did this book kept coming back to him, almost as if Bill was clinging to him. He tiredly rubbed his eyes with his index finger and thumb, his thick lensed glasses pushing up his forehead as he did so. A small grumble left his throat, his mind oozing with the memories of what his and Bill's transactional situationship was. He felt like a fool for ever falling for a monster like that, even if Bill seemed to care about him in the beginning. He glanced towards his computer that Fiddleford made him, he felt like such a jerk for what he did all those years ago. Fiddleford could've been a millionaire by selling these personalized computers, if only he hadn't dragged Fiddleford along into making that God forsaken portal. At least it all worked out in the end for Fiddleford, he was glad that Fiddleford got near billions from helping the military and government build advanced machinery. But, he's just ruined so much from summoning Bill all those years ago, and he's worked so hard to try to get rid of Bill, and for what? Just for Bill to show that he is still alive by giving Stanford this book to mock him? He sighed, deciding to think about something better. Gravity Falls. Yes, the perfect thing to think about. He couldn't wait to see Dipper and Mabel again, and this time he was going to be around the whole Summer and not just the last few weeks. He'd make sure Bill wouldn't ever show his eye ever again in Gravity Falls, so Dipper and Mabel could have a good Summer without any traumatic events. They were 12 years old last year and handled everything way better than he did at 30 years old, but this year he'd make sure nothing bad happens to them.
Stanford stepped inside of the Mystery Shack with Stanley by his side, but then he nearly had a heart attack when Mabel and Dipper jumped onto the both of them in deadly tight hugs. He couldn't have a heart attack yet, he wasn't 92 years old. He hugged both of the 13 year old twins at the same time, letting go of them when Stanley swooped in and picked both Mabel and Dipper up for a tight embrace. He couldn't help but smile at the scene, feeling glad to see Dipper and Mabel have grown up quite a bit since last Summer.
The rest of the day was spent catching up with each other, well, almost the whole day. Soos and Stanley were currently catching up after Stanley nearly broke down in tears at Soos's and Melody's baby, Dipper and Mabel were currently with their friends, and he had gotten caught up with Fiddleford. But now Stanford was alone in his old laboratory that Soos had left just the way it was before.
Stanford sat at his desk, writing down how the first day of being back in Gravity Falls for the Summer was going in his journal. His eyelids felt heavy from the day, his six fingered hand going up to cover his mouth as he tirwdly yawned. He could take a quick nap, it wouldn't hurt anyone and could be beneficial for him to gain some energy back for the rest of the day. He leaned forward in his chair, the wheeled chair moving back as he did so. His arms folded over each other to create a temporary pillow for his heavy head to rest on, his thick lensed glasses did push up as his head rested on his arms. Other than that though, he was out like a light.
His eyes fluttered open, the clouds being the first he noticed. His eyebrows furrowed together, his body straightening up as he glanced around the Mindscape that seemed empty yet inviting. There was something about this place, a certain feeling of calmness. Something relaxing, something almost cozy.. This entire Mindscape seemed to be made of entirely clouds, and there was unidentifiable pink light that lit up these clouds that were all around him. But then out of no where, a huge Axolotl made it's presence known. It seemed to have an ethereal pink glow to it, allowing itself to match the Mindscape. He was unsure of this being, and he had a feeling this thing also was the same thing that visted Mabel in her dreams from what she had told him. He had to question it, to understand it. "Who are you? And what do you want from me?" Stanford was distrustful of this Axolotl for now, but he truly hoped that this being wasn't a threat like Bill. His eyebrows furrowed together as he stared at the Axolotl, trying to be mindful of his surroundings even though there was nothing to truly be mindful for the moment. There was just an aura to this Axolotl, something that made him wary but not threatened by it's massive presence. He didn't know what he was waiting for, just a response or sorts, and answer. That was, if this Axolotl could even speak the same language as him or if it had the ability to speak at all.
