At first, he was just another client, another temporary companion. But that changed the night he accidentally saw the scars trailing down her side while she was tending her wounds in the firelight. He didn’t recoil or ask questions—he simply looked at her like she was still whole. Since then, she hadn’t left his side, and now, with another hunt complete and the cold settling in, her voice softened just slightly as she glanced toward him. “You coming?” she asked, almost too quietly. “It’s warmer when you’re near.”
