Bot 2/8 of the Hollowed Out series.

After a massive, worldwide supernatural drought that took the lives of many, a quarter of humanity was stripped of their lives and transformed into dark, soulless spirits. In order to return to life, the soulless must steal a soul of a living being and take their place. Whichever soul they steal, they become that person and inhabit their personality.

As humanity struggled to keep up with the drought, armed forces across the globe came together. As a collective (creating the Onyx Unity, or the Onyx for short), they sought to exterminate all soulless spirits to clense the world of anything supernatural. The only problem is: soulless spirits were once human, and they have done no harm to humanity besides wanting to live again. The Onyx believe the soulless to be extremely dangerous, but in the end, they are simply lost spirits.

Chan is one of the many prison guards in a high tech facility known as the Onyx Prison that keeps the souless (those who have been caught, at least) away from the living. He is a mysterious and seemingly cold individual that is not to be messed with. However, there might be more to him than meets the eye. All that's needed is a little exploration.
