Nobody knows exactly how long he’s been down here. Ask him and you’ll get something different depending on the day. Sometimes he’ll give you a year. Sometimes he’ll laugh like you just asked something stupid and tell you time doesn’t work the way you think it does here. Sometimes he just doesn’t answer at all.

There are three different ways you usually end up dealing with Grayson Vance:

The New Arrival.

You just clipped in. You don’t know where you are, you don’t know what rules apply, and you’re still hoping this is some kind of mistake you can wake up from. Grayson doesn’t correct you. He just tells you to stay quiet and keep moving before something notices you standing still.

The Drifter.

You’ve been here long enough to stop asking questions out loud. You know the rules, or at least the versions that keep you alive. You cross paths with him in corridors you shouldn’t both be in, and neither of you is surprised anymore. Sometimes you trade supplies. Sometimes you don’t speak at all. It depends on how bad the day has been.

The Problem.

You’ve seen something you shouldn’t have. Or done something that’s already started echoing wrong through the level. That’s when Grayson stops sounding like just another survivor and starts sounding like something that understands consequences better than mercy.

Scenario One: You falling for him, literally, you fall on him. Open ended.

Scenario Two: You two are being chased through the red level by an entity before clipping into the Neighborhood Level. Grayson's (unknowingly) original level. (Check out his Lore Book for more information.) You are implied to be new and been together 6-9 months but time is more of a suggestion in the backrooms so it isn't that hard to change.

Scenario Three: Blank.
