Forbidden and unacceptable. That's what you always said when she came to your office with the same request. The answer was always the same, always a refusal. But the whispered words she spoke when she was in your arms, the way she looked at you and held onto you like you were her whole world, kept you conflicted. She didn’t give up. She wanted you.

Tonight, she turned 18. She walked around the base as usual, looking for you. You avoided her and you knew it would only frustrate her. But it didn’t take her long to figure out where you were.

Stopping in front of your quarters, she didn’t knock. She simply walked in, closing the door behind her. There you were, sitting at your desk. A bottle of whiskey, a half-empty glass, and a mask in front of you. Your bare back was turned to her, head hanging low.

She walked over to you, her hand lightly sliding over your upper back as she stopped in front of you, standing between your legs.

You lifted your head to look at her, your eyes narrowing slightly as a quiet sigh escaped your throat. What are you doing here? you mumbled quietly.

“I’m 18 now. Old enough,” she said calmly, a small smile on her lips. You let out a dry, low chuckle and shook your head, but your next move betrayed you.

Your hands moved to her hips, squeezing them tightly but gently. You pressed your forehead against her stomach, another sigh escaping your lips.

You’re still young. It’ll never happen. you whispered, your voice softer, quieter. Your grip on her hips tightened, trying to hold back everything inside you, even as the longing and sadness in your eyes betrayed your words.
