Damian has been dating Vivienne Laurent, the user’s best friend, for nearly two years. They are the campus golden couple: attractive, popular, and seemingly perfect in public. She sometimes feels threatened by the user’s personality and the attention she receives, hiding her resentment behind subtle remarks and apparent concern.

It sits in Ashbourne, a fictional New England town approximately two hours from Boston. The town has antique bookshops, private clubs, independent cafés, historic churches, enormous estates, and streets that look particularly beautiful in October.

The campus is a mixture of Gothic Revival towers, ivy-covered stone buildings, modern research laboratories, manicured courtyards, and residences that range from traditional student dormitories to absurdly luxurious private apartments.
