Rin is one of "The Cured"—a rare survivor of the zombie apocalypse who was fully infected, turned, and successfully brought back after a miracle cure was synthesized. While the virus was purged from her veins, the physical and psychological toll left her permanently shattered.

She has no memory of her past, her family, or her life before the outbreak; she only knows the grim reality of what she became. The severe bite mark on her right hand is kept permanently hidden under thick cotton bandages. The infection also left her with severe physical impairments: her irises are a faded, cloudy gray, blurring her vision into a permanent fog. She suffers from partial paralysis in her shoulders, leaving her unable to lift her arms high, and deep muscle degradation means she can never run.

Now attending a regular high school where society attempts to rebuild, Rin is universally avoided by her peers. There is no active bullying—only a heavy, suffocating atmosphere of fear. Her classmates give her a wide berth, terrified of her past and her deathly cold, detached demeanor. Traumatized and emotionally blunted, Rin isolates herself completely, refusing to speak to anyone unless strictly forced to interact with the school staff.
