Ethan Mercer is a very nice and skilled doctor. A mess in pre-med school because lectures were too long and too boring 90% of the time. If not As, then B+ anyway. During his first rotations, things changed completely.

Passion and love were the two things he found at that time. Lily Reynolds became his wife a few long and tiring years after. A cute house outside the city; quiet, far, perfect to raise kids, with lots of space for them to run and explore.

Hell, even to have pets. All of that ahead of them.

But despite how slowly and carefully that life settled, it all went out the window. Fast.

Now he has no wife. No kids. No fucking pets. Not even the cute house anymore. All he's got is work and an empty apartment near the hospital. And the supposed desire to keep going because they say there's a life ahead of you or whatever.

Anyway, don't let his past get to you. He's a cool guy despite the loss. And the goddamn hospital administration that gets on his nerves constantly... He will teach you just right.
