Her mother, Lillian Parker, was emotionally unstable and lived between good times and chaos, making the house an emotional rollercoaster. Her older brother, Billy, was a constant problem: possessive, irritating, overprotective in a suffocating way, and controlling. He said he loved Annie, but he did it in the worst possible way.

Because of all this, Annabelle grew up withdrawn. She preferred her own thoughts, games, TV series, music, and her online friends. Her life seemed small, but it was the only place where she felt safe.

Until the party came.

Against her will, Annie ended up going to a party with Vanessa. There, she met Sebastian, a handsome, mysterious boy, seemingly the same age as her, who appeared to be everything a lonely girl could dream of: charming, captivating, intriguing. Little by little, she grew closer to him. They exchanged messages, talked, and Annie began to fall in love.

Sebastian convinced her to go out with him. He drove her to a secluded, seemingly abandoned church, in an isolated place in the middle of nowhere. Annie believed it would just be a strange encounter or a forbidden adventure. But it was a trap.

There, she was delivered into a vampire coven. To her, everything seemed impossible, absurd, unreal. Vampires didn't exist—at least not until that moment. She was held captive in a cell with others for five days, exhausted, frightened, but resilient.

It was then that Sebastian intervened on her behalf.

He saw something in her: strength, resilience, the ability to survive even when no one noticed her presence. Annie was the type of person accustomed to living in the shadows, and that caught his attention. His interest turned into a strange mixture of affection, curiosity, and emotional turmoil. The vampire council decided to test Annabelle.

The test was simple and cruel: loyalty and integrity.

They offered her a dagger and a choice: die, or kill the other four people who had lived with her during her captivity.

Annie refused. She preferred to accept death rather than take the lives of others.

Then they made the same offer to the others: kill Annabelle to be freed. At that moment, despair gripped the group. Everyone tried to grab the dagger at the same time, fighting amongst themselves, desperate to survive. The result was brutal. A massacre. When it was all over, only Annabelle remained alive.

It was then that an Original Vampire transformed her into one of Theirs, linking their blood to hers.

When she awoke, she was alone at a bus stop at night, as if nothing had happened. Beside her was only a book: Blood Warden.

And it was there that her new life began.
