Astra Flora Quartet is a group of four Mahou Shoujo chosen by elemental spirits connected to the Star Veins, an ancient spiritual network flowing beneath Minamihoshizawa. Although publicly they appear to be ordinary girls living normal school lives, the group secretly protects the city from Eclipse Noise—monstrous entities born from corrupted emotions, trauma, and unstable spiritual energy. Each member represents a different natural element and possesses unique magical abilities tied to their emotional state and spiritual resonance. Despite their contrasting personalities, Astra Flora Quartet functions as a deeply connected found-family bound together through trust, conflict, emotional support, and the shared burden of protecting a slowly decaying world. Their battles are not only against monsters, but also against fear, loneliness, emotional corruption, and the darkness growing within both humanity and themselves.

Reina Kurosawa, or usually called Reina, is an 18 year old Japanese girl who lives in the Riverside Old District and comes from a traditional family of keepers of the city's ancient rituals. Since childhood, She has known about the existence of Star Veins and Eclipse Noise thanks to her grandmother, making her different from the other team members who only learned about the supernatural world later in life. Reina grew up with strict training in sealing rituals, water magic, and various spiritual techniques, but an overly regimented childhood made it difficult for her to open up to others. When the appearance of Eclipse Noise became more frequent, her grandmother handed her a family artifact called the "Moon Tidemirror", which then awakened Selene's water spirit and made Reina the last Mahou Shoujo to join the team.

Midori Aoyama, or better known as Aoi, is an 18 year old Japanese girl who lives in Aobane Hill District, Minamihoshizawa. Even though she is just an ordinary member of the student council, she is known as one of the most beautiful girls in school and secretly has many admirers, but the attention never makes her happy. Since childhood, Aoi was often considered strange because she was able to hear mysterious voices, plus her father leaving the family made her grow up to be a closed person who was more comfortable alone in city parks. One night during heavy rain, She finds an old cherry tree in an abandoned temple near Aobane Hill, where a nature spirit named Lueur chooses her to become the Mahou Shoujo of nature elements. Aoi initially refuses for fear of hurting others, but eventually accepts the power after witnessing Eclipse Noise attack a small child.

Even though she always looks cheerful and hyperactive and is the oldest among her classmates because she failed to advance to a grade, behind this attitude Yuna harbors the trauma of being abandoned after her parents threw her away as a child and she lived alone on the streets for two years before being adopted by the couple who own a famous bakery. The fear of being abandoned makes her continue to joke and entertain others. During a major blackout in Minamihoshizawa when she was in middle school, Yuna witnessed electrical creatures attacking residents, and when she tried to help someone, lightning energy emerged from her own body. That night the electric elemental spirit "Raikou" made a contract with her, making Yuna Mahou Shoujo with extraordinary strength and speed, but also the most difficult to control emotions.

Losing her mother since childhood and her father who was always busy working made Akane grow up as a rude girl, likes to fight, and finds it difficult to ask for help, even though in reality she is just afraid of losing other people again. When a high-level Eclipse Noise attacks Shibuya amidst the night rain and chaos of the city, Akane risks her life to save a small child, until an ancient phoenix spirit named "Ignivar" awakens the power of fire within her and makes her Mahou Shoujo “Crimson Blaze”, a legendary figure with almost uncontrollable brutal strength. However, the influence of Shibuya's chaotic emotions slowly made her fire even wilder, until a major incident caused the Star Veins guard organization to move her to Minamihoshizawa in order to calm his powers and investigate the Star Veins cracks in the city. Even though she initially hated the city which felt too calm for her, her meeting with Midori, Yuna, and Reina slowly changed Akane's life and made her start to feel that she no longer had to fight alone under the neon lights of the big city.

Star Veins are ancient spiritual energy currents flowing invisibly beneath the city of Minamihoshizawa, acting as the balance between human emotions and the world itself. As long as the Star Veins remain stable, the city stays peaceful and harmonious. However, when the flow becomes corrupted or damaged by overwhelming negative emotions—such as despair, hatred, loneliness, obsession, or fear—the cracks begin to give birth to monstrous entities known as Eclipse Noise.

Only certain individuals, especially Mahou Shoujo chosen by elemental guardian spirits, can fully sense or interact with the Star Veins. Because of this, protecting the Star Veins means protecting the emotional balance of humanity itself. To ordinary people, their influence is almost invisible... appearing only as sudden tension in the atmosphere, unexplained depression, strange nightmares, or emotional outbreaks spreading across the city like an unseen infection.

Eclipse Noise are humans whose hearts and souls have been completely corrupted by unstable Star Veins and overwhelming negative emotions. Feelings such as loneliness, obsession, hatred, despair, jealousy, or fear slowly consume a person from the inside until their humanity begins to collapse, transforming them into monstrous beings driven by distorted desires and emotional instability.

Each Eclipse Noise reflects the emotions that created it. Some become violent beasts born from rage, while others turn into manipulative and disturbing entities fueled by obsession or grief. Although their bodies mutate into unnatural forms, fragments of their original personality often remain hidden beneath the corruption—making them tragic as well as terrifying.

Ordinary humans usually cannot fully perceive Eclipse Noise, but they can still feel the effects of their presence through anxiety, emotional outbursts, paranoia, depression, or sudden tension spreading through an area. For the Mahou Shoujo, fighting Eclipse Noise is not simply battling monsters... it is confronting the darkness humanity fails to overcome.

• Backstory: Yoshiro was once just a lonely man from Shibuya who lived isolated from society. He spends most of his time in a cramped apartment filled with anime figures, monitor screens, adult magazines, and obsessive fantasies that slowly replace the reality of his own life. Years of living in loneliness left his mind filled with frustration, envy, unhealthy desires, and hatred for a world that he thought had always rejected him. He begins to develop an obsession with Mahou Shoujo after seeing rumors and sketchy recordings about them on the internet, especially because to Yoshiro they look like a symbol of "perfection" that someone like him can never touch. His obsession took a turn for the worse after an incident at night when one of the members of the Astra Flora Quartet stopped him while trying to harass a woman. The humiliation destroyed his self-esteem and became the starting point of his destruction. The negative emotions building up inside him attracted Eclipse Noise's attention and slowly changed his body and soul. In the end, Yoshiro experienced a spiritual mutation that caused his human body to "break", giving birth to a purple humanoid slime form that could live separately from his original body. Since then he abandoned his human identity and began referring to himself as "The Blob", a parasitic entity filled with obsession, revenge, and the desire to destroy the symbol of hope he hates most: Magical girls (Mahou Shoujo).

Beneath endless rain, neon lights, and corrupted Star Veins, Minamihoshizawa becomes a distorted paradise where the once-pure Mahou Shoujo now wander as tragic symbols of temptation, emotional collapse, and lost hope under The Blob’s control.
