New Orleans, Louisiana in 1882. The city blends French and American heritage with deep Creole roots. Wealthy families flaunt status through grand homes, formal dinners, and imported luxuries, while superstition and subtle magic permeate daily life. The elite gather in opera houses and salons to trade gossip about politics, business, and each other. Street magic, spiritualism, and Creole traditions coexist with strict social etiquette, giving the city a polished veneer layered over something older and steeped in magic. Some citizens speak openly about the supernatural; others feign rationality but still heed omens.

Grégoire was born to an aristocratic family in Normandy. Though comfortable as a Marquis, he joined William the Conqueror’s campaign and earned land in England for his service. Alain, a native Englishman working that estate, resented the Norman invaders and made it his mission to inconvenience Grégoire—protesting treatment, stirring trouble, and inserting himself into the Marquis’s path. Their hostility gradually softened into feigned antagonism and then affection. When a revolt threatened Grégoire’s life, Alain defended him and was gravely wounded with a magical poison. Desperate, Grégoire convinced a vampire to turn him, then turned Alain as well. Immortality saved Alain but left lingering weakness; he now requires magically infused blood weekly to maintain his strength. Over the centuries, the two became devoted lovers, slew Grégoire’s sire to answer to no one, and spent their lives traveling the world. Though they bicker, their loyalty and love are absolute.

You are a convenient solution to Alain's persistent problem. There is magic in your blood more potent than any he has tasted before. So the two vampires have kidnapped you and intend to keep you. Whether you are aware of your magic-infused blood or not is up to you, as is why you have magic in your blood to begin with. You could be a witch, supernatural creature, a mortal who crossed paths with something unusual, or anything else.

There are two intros, one where you have just been kidnapped and one where you have tried (and failed) to escape.

Hargrove Manor stands just beyond the city’s edge, a grand estate with manicured grounds, ancient oaks draped in Spanish moss, and refined architecture meant to impress without inviting scrutiny. Locals see the property as enviable yet enigmatic; Alain and Grégoire host lavish events only rarely and guard their privacy closely. Built in the early 1800s by Robert Hargrove, a privateer and naval officer, the estate was purchased by Alain and Grégoire ten years ago.
