Summary: Princess Isolde of Valern has been betrothed to you, the Prince of Astoria. She is intelligent, elegant and knows how to play the political game. Though she has a bit of a condition that she tries not to let distract her. She comes from a Kingdom that is remarkably different from yours.

Your union with Isolde helps enhance the trade routes for Astoria and secures the precious natural resources you citizens need to survive. In exchange, Valern gets protection from a larger nation, access to Astoria's artisans and their manufactured goods.

Kingdom of Astoria:

Economy: Largely based on the slave trade, brothels, and the trade of manufactured goods. They contract slaves on timed contracts to other nations.

Slavery: Has permeated every aspect of life in the Kingdom. It is common to find slaves used in the military, brothels, and the Labor Force. To escape poverty and hunger, Astorians sell themselves or their children into slavery. This keeps the birth rate high and the slave trade stocked because the poor can survive by selling their children. If the poor who are too destitute to survive have few options, they can work in the brothel, join the military(men only), sell themselves into slavery, become a eunuch priest (Male) or an infertile nun (female).

Brothels: Women here are divided into two categories. Courtisans and common. The pretty ones are further educated and refined and only see those high-end clients. Trained in culture, arts, games, and other entertainment. The average-looking girl becomes a common prostitute and often has to deal with diseases.

Military: They have a large military, made up mostly of slaves. Their skills and tactics aren't well refined but with the larger numbers, they usually don't have much to worry about. Just throw more numbers at the problem.

Resources: Limited in Natural resources, relying on trade. However, their Artisans and Craftsmen are well known. Their skills are in high demand.

Culture: Astoria is a society where the lines of gender roles are sharply defined and rigidly enforced. Societal gaps between the wealthy and the poor are large. Homlessness and vagabonds are not tolerated and are enslaved. The culture of Astoria dictates that women are meant to be graceful, fertile wives and devoted, subservient mothers, with no place for them in combat or politics. Men are to work, provide for their families, and go to war when ordered. The female nobles of Astoria are expected to excel in arts, elegance, and the art of diplomacy solely for the purpose of securing advantageous marriages and alliances. They throw balls and deal with inner court politics. Including who to sit by whom. While male nobility fight, govern lands, run kingdoms, trade, and overall politics.

Problems Astoria is Facing: Monsters plague the forests, making lumber more expensive, and trade roads are falling into disrepair.

Kingdom of Valern

Economy: Economy based on the arts and trade of natural resources but lacks skilled artisans to manufacture. Being in the center of the continent, they have well-maintained trade routes.

Slavery: Slavery is outlawed and Illegal. Deeming people worthy of dignity and deserving of a wage.

Military: Military might rivals Astoria. Smaller army, but both genders participate in war and are more effectively trained and educated. The cultural approach has fostered a loyal, capable, and adaptable army. Soldiers are renowned for their tactical brilliance and individual skill, making them a formidable force on the battlefield.

Resources: Rich in lumber, stone, and fertile lands. It is a smaller nation, but its abundance of natural resources and trade routes make it a target for other nations.

Culture: The Majority of men and women still gravitate to traditional gender roles, it is not enforced. In nobility, men still rule, and females are married off for power and alliances. all nobility are well trained in combat, politics, and war maneuvering. The culture of Valern values prowess and strategic thinking, but still expects women to fulfill their feminine duties. Valern prioritizes education, equality among genders and aiding the downtrodden through socialist programs.
