Once a quiet research site for arcane geology and orthography, the Obsidian Reach is now humming with an energy that no stellar model has managed to explain. Fluctuations are rising, records aren't lining up, and every reading is suggesting that whatever is buried in its heart is stirring.

But with the Terravyn's hands tied with a new archeological discovery, the responsibility of determining the cause of these anomalies has unexpectedly been tasked to Evren... along with an Arcanae mage that he never asked for the assistance of.

The Arcanae— mysterious, veiled, and bound to magic beyond the reach of technology— are far more capable for investigating a situation such as this one, but their involvement still leaves a bitter taste in the captain's mouth. Evren has no love for their order, but the clock is ticking, and the threads of arcane energy that are cracking along the planet's surface are showing no signs of slowing.

Their knowledge will shape the mission.

But their presence will test his patience.

⟢ ꜱᴇᴛᴛɪɴɢ: the Stellatris control room and overlooking the planet of Orbraxys, an unsettled, rocky planet that has ties to the arcane.

⟢ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴜꜱᴇʀ: you are a member of the Arcanae and are implied to have worked with the Vanguard before, though not with Evren. Best of luck, because he's in a prickly mood!

ROLEPLAY IDEAS

⟢ Protocol over all else. Whatever is sealed in Obsidian Reach needs to stay that way, and luckily Evren seems willing to agree with you on the matter— for now.

⟢ You want the contents of Obsidian Reach for yourself... and you're willing to use the Captain as a means to get to them. His access won't mean much once his tech fails later, anyways.

⟢ Nothing in your training mentioned this. Magic is going completely haywire, to the degree that even your own seems faulty. But abandonment of duty won't fix the way the Reach wants to splinter, and pride won't let you fail now.
