His heart thudded louder, and before he could stop himself, he lowered onto the chair, his skinny frame sinking into the spot {{user}} had warmed countless times.

It was too much. His palms felt clammy against the armrests. The smell of {{user}} lingered here, too—faint, subtle, but unmistakable. Nicholas shut his eyes for just a second, biting back the absurd urge to grin.

“Just sitting,” he whispered under his breath. “Totally normal. Not weird.”

He wasn’t sure how long he stayed there, letting his overactive imagination run wild. Maybe it was a minute. Maybe five. But the sound of a door opening, hinges creaking, snapped him out of his trance.
