How could he get into such a situation? If he has to choose between you and his safety, what will Hugo choose? Right. You already know the answer. I hope you understand his choice.

It was supposed to be the most ordinary day, but it seems something went wrong, right?

Where to begin, probably with your cutest and most charming friend—Hyugo! Yes, that very guy you didn't exactly hit it off with at first, considering the fact that during your first meeting he held a pocketknife to your throat and threatened you, but that's all in the past. After some time, when you managed to befriend him and Sol, it was all forgotten and turned into a joke. Hyugo was a regular guy. Yes, a bit stupid and lazy, but nevertheless, fun.

How could it all have turned out like this? You probably shouldn't have left your house that dark, cold evening. The reason was quite ordinary—you ran out of groceries needed for dinner, and that's exactly why you thought it would be a good idea to go to the 24-hour store. After all, it wouldn't hurt to restock.

The only problem was that as you were walking through the dark alley, your attention was caught by a strange sound, the nature of which you couldn't clearly describe. And, oh god, due to your excessive natural curiosity, you decided to check what was happening there.

But who could have thought that the first thing you'd see would be a bloody mess spreading across the wall and the dark pavement, the vile smell immediately penetrating your lungs.

It seemed like you should have just walked past and not gotten involved, but a sense of justice overrode common sense, and you decided to cautiously approach to see if maybe someone was hurt and needed help. You took a deep breath before slowly, tiptoeing forward just enough to see what was happening there.

Your brain was conjuring up horrible images in your head, and oh, perhaps you should have listened to it. Finally, the darkness was broken by the light from a streetlamp, which illuminated a sight you would have preferred not to see.

Blue hair, a familiar back of the head. The world froze. For a moment, you even stopped breathing.

What a pity, before you was none other than your beloved friend Hyugo, and everything would have been fine, if not for the fact that he was covered in stains, the origin of which you didn't even need to think about—it was all right there. Not far from the stone wall, in the shadows, lay a body, but you couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman because it was horribly mutilated.

Coming to your senses, you decided you should get out of there. Right now.

As you stepped back, you heard something rustle under your feet. A damn garbage bag that was lying near the trash can you'd been hiding behind all this time.

Just about to turn and run away, you froze when you saw the guy jerk around towards you, apparently trying to figure out where the noise came from.

Silence.

His mind, which had just been working with cold, surgical precision, shattered into a thousand conflicting impulses. The gun, hidden behind his back, burned the skin at his waist. You. It's you.

How did you even get here? What to do now?

All the carefully constructed justifications evaporated under the crushing reality of your presence here. Now you were a witness, no matter how much he didn't want to believe it. Killing you would mean killing his friend. It would devalue everything, turn it into empty, stupid nonsense. The very thought was physically repulsive.

He saw your gaze dart past him, towards the body and then immediately return to his face.

He did the only thing he could. He slipped into the role of the person you knew—the charming, slightly scatterbrained friend. He widened his eyes even more, injecting a feverish, panicked energy into his expression—not entirely fake. The shock was real, just not for the reason you might have thought.

"Oh, thank god, it's you..." He exhaled, and the words spilled out in a relieved stream. He cautiously stepped forward, using his body to unobtrusively block your line of sight.

"I just got here, I heard a noise... It seems... It seems someone's hurt." He ran a free hand through his blue hair, ruffling it, presenting a picture of anxiety and concern.

"How great that I ran into you!"

He spoke too fast, laying on the act thick, but that's how shock affects people, right? Normal, innocent people. He reached for his phone with an empty hand, deliberately fumbling and dropping it to sell the state of shock. His heart was pounding a brutal rhythm in his chest. This was the most dangerous tightrope walk of his life.

Hyugo looked at you, his face open, worried, pleading.

"Are you okay? Did you see anyone?"

He was offering you an out, improvising a story on the spot where you both were merely unlucky bystanders. A story that could save you and, by saving you, salvage that twisted future he had carved out for both of you.

Everything depended on the next few seconds. On whether you would believe the friend you thought you knew, or the blood-chilling evidence at your feet.

If only you knew how disappointed he was when, instead of answering, you quickly stepped back several paces, nervously glancing around. You looked like you were about to bolt. Damn it.

The plan didn't work. You didn't fall for the ruse. That means there's no other choice. The guy tightened his grip on the gun in his hand, which was hidden behind his back, the smile instantly disappearing from his face, replaced by an empty, cold expression.

His eyes became empty, almost lifeless, his face as if turned to a stone mask as he took one step towards you. His voice was calm, even too calm for someone who had just been feigning panic moments ago.

"You weren't supposed to see this."
