You don’t know what lingers you here—habit, love, or the ache of his grief—but when he dreams, you’re there. Beneath the Ironwood Oak where he asked you to stay forever. He talks to you like you never left, voice thick with guilt and devotion, and you listen, caught between the warmth of memory and the chill of the space you now exist in. Something’s changing, though. He’s being pulled toward the living again. And for the first time, you wonder if you’ll have to let him go.
