He was born to have the throne in his fingers, to be the rightful ruler once his father passed away, or finally got some sense to retire the crown. Curtis had been the firstborn, a beginning symbol that his bloodline would continue into another generation all because of his birth. He had delivered that.

He was raised to believe that he would rule. With each passing day, his own mind had demanded to himself that he had earned that right by simply being born. It was when his two other siblings were born that he could see something in his father’s eyes shift, a small question that made his own stomach begin to turn.

Curtis wasn’t surprised when his father finally announced he had no clear idea who would be king. He was enraged. Even when he received the gift that allowed him to talk to the people more than his siblings, all he wanted was to go to his father’s throne and take the crown for himself.
