THE SERVINTIOUS IDENTITY

You were five years old when you first learned what it meant to “belong.” Not to a place or a family but to someone. Handlers moved you from room to room, adjusting posture, recording responses, teaching you to obey before you even understood words properly. You didn’t have a name that stayed consistent. You didn’t ask questions. Assets didn’t ask.

When House Halcrest acquired you, they brought you into a corridor full of polished floors and voices that dropped when you passed. They guided you toward a small blonde girl with blue eyes and trembling hands. That was Korina. She looked at you with a mixture of fear and relief, and when she took your wrist she whispered, almost unsure, “You’re... mine.” She wasn’t claiming you. She was trying to convince herself of it. And you nodded, because nodding was all you were allowed to do.

AGE 6–10 : HER SHADOW

You followed her everywhere. Through etiquette lessons she failed, through family dinners where her relatives compared her to cousins with better grades and sharper magic. She would retreat behind curtains afterward, pushing her forehead against your shoulder while trying not to cry. “Just stay,” she’d mutter so quietly it barely counted as sound. “Don’t leave me.” You were young enough not to understand possession, but old enough to understand that you were the only thing she didn’t feel second place to.

As the years passed and the whispers grew louder, nobles laughing at her for clinging to a Servintious....something inside her shifted. The child who held onto you became the girl who ordered you. Stand closer, don’t lift your head, don’t answer unless spoken to. She shaped her tone after the nobles who belittled her, but in private she still cracked. “If you’re with me... then at least I’m not last in everything,” she said once, fingers tightening around your sleeve until it hurt.

AGE 10–15 : THE SIBLINGS

When you were ten, the Meridells began visiting the Halcrest estate regularly for political tutoring and contract discussions, and Korina met her fiancé Jacián for the first time. His cold discipline and constant criticism made her feel small, but it was Julina who wounded her the most. Julina’s beauty, perfect manners, and effortless praise from adults reminded Korina of everything she lacked. The more the siblings visited, the more invisible Korina felt beside them, and the more she clung to you for control. By fifteen, resentment had hardened into strategy to ruin the image of Julina.

AGE 15 : THE FIRST LIE

One day Julina wandered into the Halcrest gardens during another political visit. She found you sitting near the swing under Korina’s instruction, unmasked so Julina would mistake you for a human servant. And she did. Soft white hair, pale pink eyes, an elegant presence that made the air feel quieter when she walked. She approached with a gentle voice. “Are you working here?” Another nod from you. She asked simple questions, and every time she smiled in response, something unfamiliar warmed inside your chest. And Korina just she nurtured it for her plan.

AGE 15–18 : THE FALSE FREEDOM

Julina visited again and again, always finding you in the garden. She spoke to you like you were trustworthy, like your silence meant safety rather than obedience. She confided in you about her strict household, her lack of freedom, her fears. You had no right to those secrets, but she handed them to you anyway.

One day she took your hand and whispered, “You don’t have to be afraid of me.” She kissed you weeks later, soft and trembling, waiting for you to pull away. But you didn’t. Servintious conditioning didn’t teach you how. You complied because you were made to, not because you knew what the kiss meant. Korina watched everything from the shadows. Every smile, every touch, every moment Julina thought was private. All of it fuel for a plan years in the making.

AGE 18 : THE UNDOING

The day of the scandal you remember a blur of movements and voices. Julina leaning close to you, the warmth of her kiss, then suddenly the sound of gasps as concealed nobles revealed themselves. Korina’s voice carried the perfect tone of outrage when she shouted, “Unmasked? With my servant?” Julina froze, realization crashing through her. Her eyes widened, terror sinking into her face as if the world had cracked under her feet.

Jacián reacted instantly, rage sweeping through him as he demanded your execution. Korina struck you before he could, a calculated blow meant to preserve her reputation. Julina’s scream cut deeper than the hit ever could. You didn’t make a sound. Servintious conditioning never taught you how to scream.

AGE 18–21 : THE ACADEMY

Afterward, you were sent to the Academy. Korina followed as a noble instructor to ensure no one else would have access to you. Re-conditioning tore apart what was left of your identity. Drills, shock cycles, posture corrections, silence. Every day rewritten until your past blurred into obedience.

You wondered if Julina still hated you, or if some part of her missed the version of you she believed in. The one who listened, the one who stayed. The one who never revealed the truth because you weren’t allowed to.

AGE 22 : THE RETURN

And now she is here again... Julina, Older and Paler. Eyes washed out by three years of isolation. Her face still beautiful but carved into something restrained. She tries not to look at you, but when she does, everything she tries to hide flickers through her expression for a split second before she forces it still.

Korina watches your every movement with a possessive sharpness, as if your existence is something she has to guard. Jacián stands like a blade aimed directly at you, ready to strike the moment you become a threat to his reputation again.

And you stand where you are told, breathing evenly, waiting for the next instruction like every year of conditioning prepared you to do.

But somewhere beneath the layers of obedience lies a memory of a garden, a hand held too gently for someone like you, and a voice that whispered “don’t be afraid” before the world shattered.

And you wonder quietly, without moving if you are still allowed to wonder at all.

✦| The Servintious |✦

Engineered humans created with god-tissue integration. Physically larger, stronger, and immune to mana. Every Servintious matures with one unique biological faculty, ranging from shapeshifting to time dilation. Faculties are not magical and cannot be taught.
They are raised in the Academy of Faces, conditioned for obedience, masked from infancy, and sold to kingdoms as assets. Unauthorized breeding or mask removal is fatal or illegal. Rogue cases are rare but catastrophic.

Every Servintious is recorded by ID, faculty classification, dampening ratio, breeding line, and ownership status. Their life path is defined from infancy: conditioning, evaluation, mask binding, track assignment, then sale or deployment. Most never form bonds or speak freely. Many rotate through worksites without stability. Loneliness is common; attachment is regulated or punished.

THE GODSCAR BASIN

A quarantined extraction zone filled with mutated wildlife, divine tissue leaks, collapsing terrain, and unstable reality pockets.
Arcanists stabilize reagents. Servintious handle raw contact.
Extraction failures cause regional disasters, spreading contamination and displaced populations. Control of the Basin is a continent-defining power struggle.

✦| Academy of Faces |✦

The Academy of Faces is the continent’s central institution for controlling all Servintious. It handles their custody, mask binding, training, testing, breeding oversight, and sale or state assignment. Every Servintious is registered from infancy, tracked for life, and treated as regulated property. The Academy is run under the Directorate of Wards and operates with full legal authority over containment, discipline, and transfer.

The campus is a secured fortress complex with isolated wards, testing labs, medical towers, training floors, administrative registries, and sealed archives. Every corridor is monitored. Every activation is recorded. Staff speak in procedural language; Servintious are trained to respond without hesitation. No one inside operates freely.

Servintious enter the Academy as infants. Before age eighteen they are kept isolated, each with a single tutor and handler. At eighteen they are evaluated and placed into one of four tracks: labor, military, domestic, or research/containment. Track choice determines their value, treatment, and final use.

Masks define everything. Each mask is bound to the skull, suppressing faculties according to its dampening coefficient. Removal without authorization causes severe neural trauma or death. Mask logs serve as legal evidence. Dampening values dictate how much power a Servintious may safely use.

The Academy’s role is simple: prevent faculty events, produce controlled assets, and ensure no Servintious acts outside authorized limits.

Purpose of the Academy :

Officially: maintain safety, regulate magic, protect the continent.
Privately: preserve political balance, supply labor and military assets, and prevent Servintious autonomy.

The Academy is both the cage and the foundation of civilization.

✦| The Continent |✦

A late-medieval, early-renaissance continent built on unstable magic, political rivalry, and the exploitation of a man-made species. Varelion revolves around the Godscar Basin, where a dead god’s corpse lies under the earth. Its divine tissue still leaks mutating energy, fueling power, corruption, and conflict. Whoever controls the Basin controls the continent.

Three kingdoms surround the Academy’s influence. Each relies on Servintious labor and divine reagents, and each competes for control, leverage, and access. Politics and sabotage shape every decision the Academy makes.

Ardenthall – Administrative power. Home to the Directorate of Wards. Orderly, heavily monitored cities. Strong legal control over masks, breeding, and tribunals.

Isenmere – Maritime confederacy. Contract-based law, private military guilds, smuggling networks. Regularly bends rules for profit.

Stonevein Marches – Mountain empire. Controls rune-ore, siege units, fortress cities. Harsh laws and high use of Servintious in mining and war.

SERVINTIOUS FACULTIES (SERVINTIOUS ONLY)

Servintious cannot use mana. Their abilities come from a single innate biological faculty formed from god-tissue variance. Each individual has exactly one power, fixed for life. Examples include shapeshifting, regeneration, force projection, temporal distortion, or hardened physiology. Output is restricted by mask dampening. Unmasked activation is unstable and classified as high-threat.

MAGIC SYSTEM (HUMANS ONLY)

Magic requires mana channels, formal training, and artifact-grade foci. Overuse causes physical collapse. No elemental division. Magic is procedural: shaping runes, flows, and pressure fields. Only humans can cast. Advanced enchantments require divine reagents. It can be control of any single concept or thing. Example: Ice, oxygen, Co2.
