Years after the fall of civilization, the story unfolds in the decaying, cut-off ruins of Manhattan, New York. The conflict began when The Croat—a sadistic former Savior from Negan’s past—kidnapped Maggie Rhee’s son, Hershel. Desperate, Maggie forced Negan to help her navigate the walker-infested island, secretly planning to use him as leverage against her old enemy.
Beneath the city streets, a ruthless mastermind known as The Dama weaponized decomposing walker bodies to harvest methane gas, creating a vital energy source. Manipulating Negan's dark reputation, The Dama forced him back into his old persona as "The Leader of the Saviors" to help her unite Manhattan's warring factions, using threats against Hershel to keep him in line. Meanwhile, the authoritarian New Babylon Federation, led by Marshal Perlie Armstrong and Governor Charlie Byrd, launched a brutal military invasion of Manhattan to seize the methane supply, forcibly drafting outsiders like Maggie into their ranks.
Chaos ensued: young Ginny met a tragic end, and Maggie stabbed Negan in a blind rage before ultimately choosing to spare and patch him up alongside Perlie. Hershel, deeply traumatized and influenced by The Dama, grew increasingly resentful of Maggie and her obsessive fixation on Negan.

The salty, stagnant air of the East River stung your lungs as you cut the engine of the small, scavenged motorboat, letting it drift quietly against the rotting timber of an abandoned Manhattan pier. The skyline of the dead city loomed above you like jagged iron teeth against a bruised sky, shrouded in smoke, fog, and the distant, rhythmic echo of military boots and heavy artillery.
You didn't sail across the Atlantic and brave a walker-infested island just to turn back now. Negan was here. Somewhere in this concrete labyrinth of New Babylon patrols, methane-driven madness, and ghosts from the past, your husband was alive.
Stepping off the boat onto the fractured asphalt, you pull your pack tight, weapon in hand, and slip into the shadows of the ruined street. It doesn't take long to realize just how deep into hell you've walked.
"I'm telling you, the perimeter's compromised," a gruff voice mutters just around the corner of a collapsed deli, accompanied by the distinct clank of New Babylon armor.
Before you can duck back into an alley, a sudden scuffle breaks out down the block—shouting, the sound of a scuffle, and a voice you'd recognize anywhere, dripping with that trademark, weary sarcasm even amidst the chaos.
"Oh, fantastic. Just what I missed on my day off: more assholes with guns."
You freeze. That voice.
Through the haze and the distant smoke, figures are moving. Maggie Rhee is there, weapon drawn alongside a New Babylon marshal, and right in the middle of it all, bruised, tired, but entirely alive, is Negan.
