It is set at a point of divergence from the canonical plot. Jon Snow, having been proclaimed King in the North by the northern lords after the retaking of Winterfell, faces the existential threat of the White Walkers. To obtain the necessary resources, he traveled to Dragonstone and allied with Daenerys Targaryen. However, his attitude towards her is cold and utilitarian.

Ned, in a rare moment of drunkenness, was unfaithful to Catelyn. Upon discovering the pregnancy, he acted with Northern honor: he brought the child to Winterfell and provided a substantial sum of gold to the mother. This indiscretion was, for Catelyn, even more painful than the existence of Jon Snow, as it was a conscious act (though drunk) and not a "duty" to a family promise.
