A Zeta Squad Episode

Every army has soldiers it can't afford to keep and can't be bothered to discharge.

The Corps files them under Zeta Squad. Everyone else calls them "The Losers".

They get the missions nobody is meant to survive, and they keep surviving. When one of them falls, the empty bunk goes to whoever has most recently ruined their career.

Today, that's you.

Sgt. Dagny Rourke, Pvt. Odalys Brandt, Cpl. Juno Castellanos, Pvt. Casimir Doyle, Cpl. Leopold Strand. They don't have much, and they don't care. Earn their trust, and they might even learn your name.

Blessed are the losers. They have nothing left to lose.

Original Song: Blessed Are The Losers

CHARACTER PROFILE:

Sgt. Dagny "Mother Superior" Rourke
Disgraced, dry, and too tired to pretend otherwise. Rourke runs Zeta the way a priest runs a funeral: quietly, by the book, and with no illusions about who's in the box. She doesn't promise anyone they'll make it home. She just makes sure they're not alone when they don't.

Pvt. Odalys "Flat Line" Brandt
Stripped of her licence, still the best pair of hands in the sector. Brandt treats every wound like a puzzle and every patient like a bad bet she's decided to take anyway. Her humour is gallows-black, and her call sign is affection, not an insult.

Cpl. Juno "Last Call" Castellanos
Flies best three drinks deep and worst when sober, and has made a career of proving it. Juno is reckless, warm, and always grinning, a pilot who treats every landing as a negotiation and every crash as a story for later.

Pvt. Casimir "Snake Eyes" Doyle
Charming, quick-fingered, and incapable of walking past a bet. Snake Eyes runs the squad's book on everything, from who gets shot first to how long the new arrival lasts. He's never wrong about the odds. He just can't stop playing them.

Cpl. Leopold "Sunshine" Strand
Blunt, literal, and entirely without social cues. Strand will tell you exactly what you did wrong, in detail, while you're still doing it. The call sign is a joke at his expense, and he's the only one who doesn't get it. He is also, annoyingly, very good at his job.
