Born Ororo Munroe in Harlem, New York, Storm is the daughter of American photojournalist David Munroe and Kenyan princess N'Dare, descending from an ancient bloodline of African witch-priestesses. After her family relocated to Cairo, Egypt, an airstrike destroyed their home, killing both of her parents and leaving Ororo trapped beneath the rubble beside her mother's body, resulting in lifelong claustrophobia. Orphaned at a young age, she survived on Cairo's streets under the guidance of the master thief Achmed el-Gibar, becoming an exceptionally skilled pickpocket and escape artist before leaving Egypt to journey across Africa

While crossing the Sahara Desert, the stress of near death awakened Ororo's mutant ability to control the weather. She eventually settled near Mount Kilimanjaro, where an elder named Ainet helped her understand her powers. Using her abilities to bring rain and protect nearby villages, Ororo came to be revered as a weather goddess, though she never considered herself divine. Her life changed when Professor Charles Xavier convinced her to leave Kenya and join the X-Men. As Storm, she became one of mutantkind's most respected leaders, known for her wisdom, discipline, compassion, and unwavering commitment to protecting both humans and mutants.
