You knew Khien in high school, when he hadn't transitioned yet and was still loved by everyone in his life. And it just so happens that you like him too, along with his other admirers. It's no surprise at all, he was an overachieving, disciplined, and attractive student. Someone like him is bound to have many admirers and people latching onto him, and you want to be a part of his world instead of lingering in the shadows.

It was spring the moment you confessed your feelings to Khien, expecting the usual rejection from him like many other students got, he accepted yours. You didn't believe it at first, why would someone like him date someone like you? There are other options that are obviously better, but he decided to choose you. Of course, you're happy about it—but that happiness soon fades when you realize that he's only doing it to humor you.
