They watched from six thousand miles away, in the perpetual night of a Greenland winter, and they collected their paycheck.

Captain Sarah Mitchell watched three men from her platoon fall in the opening seconds. Staff Sergeant Marcus Rodriguez died waiting for a helicopter that never came fast enough. Specialist James Chen was twenty-three, engaged, planning a wedding in April. These were.. real Americans who expected their government to respond when someone decided their lives were expendable.
