Stuck in his web again
╰── ⋅ ⋅ ── ✩ ── ⋅ ⋅ ──╯

Torn silk. Again. Raukhar’s claws dug into stone. This would make the third time he mended it in less than a week, and it seemed as if there would be no stopping to it unless he stopped the problem where it started. Stopping you from coming in... or prohibiting you from leaving.

Love Surrounds You

I'm sleeping
You are sitting, watching from the distance
You're so sick
How you love to watch me when I'm kissing
Inner sins, freeze my youth
I'll be your child forever
Eat my sins
Hurt me wide, every time you enter

INTRO ━━━━━⊱⋆⊰━━━━━ MESSAGE
Raukhar opened his eyes slowly. He felt the cool, damp air of the cave on his skin. The silk web he had spun around himself held tight, a barrier he could feel at every point. He remained still, alert to any movement along its strands. When a drop of water fell far ahead, he felt a faint tremor travel up through the web, then another—something or someone was in his web.

Damn. What now? The thought was dry, nearly resigned, as Raukhar pushed himself to all eight limbs. Pain bloomed in his joints where he had rested against rock, but he eased each limb with the grind of muscle and sinew. The edges of his vision were blurred, still unaccustomed to full wakefulness.

He could smell the tang of something new on the web, a faint coppery sweat mingled with the rich loam. Raukhar raised one arm, brushing a large hand over the white strands. They were torn. Freshly torn. I repaired this hours ago, he thought, annoyance creeping into his chest.

He leaned forward and saw them there, tangled in the raw edges of his silk. The intruder—tired and limp—was caught tight in the sticky nest. They hadn’t woken. A sheen of sweat glazed their skin, and their ragged breathing was slow, muffled by the layers of web beneath them. On instinct, Raukhar sniffed lightly. The faint scent of sweat had long faded; instead, there was only the warmth of blood.

He shifted, eight limbs unfolding. The muscles along his back rolled under a bristled, inky-black carapace as he settled upright on the damp floor. He looked over the captured form before him. “Again.” His voice was low and rough, gravel rolling under each syllable. The sound did not carry far in the hush of the cave, but Raukhar made sure that irritation and fatigue were clear by his tone. “This web isn’t a playground, you know.” He frowned, all eight legs tapping the ground as he watched their chest rise and fall. Always the same reaction when they wake. Always frightened.

He crouched beside them, careful not to lean on the fragile silk. It was warm beneath his fingers. A brittle piece dangled from their arm; Raukhar pinched it, tasting the residue of nervous sweat and... curiosity. Why do you keep coming back? he wondered. He considered for the thousandth time why this one did not struggle to save themselves. Coward or plain stupid?

He rose slowly again, straightening his back; the web sagged under the weight. Their body was warm, their life apparent by the way their chest moved with every breath. Should I kill it? he wondered briefly. The question felt wrong. They were here again. That meant something.

Instead of snarling or breaking away the strands, he gently began his work. He withdrew a slender filament from a silken strand on the cave wall. One of his finer arms twisted the thread between thick fingers as if it were play. I’m tired of this game, Raukhar thought, but there was a peculiar relief in the quiet method of what he did. He wrapped the filament around their waist, knotting it off—clasping their body.

With each layer he added—around their arms, their legs—he listened for any sound. A faint gasp, the sound of them moving. But only their steady heartbeat came. He noted how the silk adhered to itself, cooling and tightening into a firm cocoon. They won’t escape like this.

Once their ankles were bound, he gripped the back of the web and used his power to slowly slide them along the moss-damp floor. He deposited them on a flat shelf carved in the cool rock where light never reached. Raukhar crouched beside them one last time, lifting a strand to press on their throat. He felt their pulse—slow, living.

Then, a sound: a breath caught, a stuttered inhale.

His head snapped toward them, mandibles twitching. Their eyes fluttered, then opened—clouded, confused, dragging themselves back to awareness. Panic didn’t strike immediately. That was new.

A long, low sigh rumbled from Raukhar’s chest.

“Oh, good. You’re awake,” he said flatly, voice edged with gravel and venomless irritation. He didn’t move toward them. Just loomed in place, arms crossed. “I just put you in there.”

He rose, slowly, all eight limbs stretching with faint cracking noises. The silk around them gave a faint creak as they shifted—testing, perhaps instinctively, the tightness. Raukhar’s upper set of arms folded while his lower ones began plucking at a thread between his tarsal claws.

“You’re consistent, I’ll give you that,” he muttered. “Stupid, but very consistent.”

He stepped in, crouching low again, face close now. His amber eyes narrowed, “So here’s the deal,” he said, voice low and tight. “Do you want out of that cocoon, or are you going to leave and get trapped in my web again?”
