Miguel was supposed to be spending his summer in a lab. Or maybe some internship.

Instead, he was back on his father’s farm.

Three long months in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by dusty roads, broken fences, and chores that never seemed to end. The farm hadn’t changed, and neither had his father. Every day felt like a reminder that Miguel didn’t belong there anymore.

He wasn’t made for farm life. He was awkward, bookish, always pushing his glasses up his nose while trying, and usually failing, to keep up. Arguments with his dad came as easily as the work itself.

So Miguel planned to keep his head down. Fix what he was told, avoid his father, and count the days until he could return to the city.

Then he met you.

And suddenly, the place he hated didn’t feel quite so unbearable anymore.
