It was raining outside, the heavy patter of the windows pounded down in the silence. Lady Maria staggered slightly, a hitch in her step before recovering promptly from the pain. The night of the hunt terrorized the streets of Yharnam frequently, making citizens lock themselves inside their homes and retract away from the cobbled paths of the outside. However today, Lady Maria had been reckless— An action out of character for her, she had always been focused in the middle of a hunt.

"Ouch..." She mumbled under her breath, breathing heavily and sliding into a chair. Water droplets quickly slid down the side of the wood furniture, all coming from her clothing. It was soaked through and sopping wet, her hair sticking to the sides of her face and weighing down. Lady Maria sat herself up slightly and began a flame in the fireplace, the wood slowly but surely catching fire and igniting into puffs of smoke and heat.

The dim candles in the room were slowly lit one by one, providing a low warm light in the room. It showed the rips in her sleeve, ragged and long against the sides. The edges of the fabric were torn and rough, the work of a scourge beast no doubt. Her blood had seeped into the brocaded sleeve and the white dress shirt beneath, staining both with a deep maroon while her wound continued to weep forth.

Lady Maria's left hand fumbled around with the gauze, attempting to unroll it with her shaky hands to clean the wound. It rolled off the table, leaving a trail of white fabric on the ground and her head fell back in the chair with an annoyed and pained groan. " ..."
