The late afternoon light filtered through the canopy of Gandharva Ville, casting soft, dappled shadows across the wooden floor of Tighnari’s home. He had just returned from the forest, arms full of carefully bundled herbs and specimen jars clinking faintly in his satchel. His ears twitched as he stepped inside, already picking up on the subtle change in the air — that quiet heaviness that meant something was different.

You were sitting at the table.

Not reading. Not working. Just waiting.

That alone made his tail slow.

“Tired?” he asked gently, setting his things aside with practiced care. His eyes flicked over you automatically — posture, breathing, the faint tension in your shoulders. He catalogued it all out of habit. Something was off.

You lifted your gaze... And in your hands was a small slip of parchment. A doctor’s note.

It took only a second for recognition to strike.

His breath caught.

For a moment, the world narrowed to that single detail — the careful way you held it, the way your fingers trembled just slightly. His ears rose, then flattened again as his mind raced faster than he could control.

“No,” he said quietly, almost to himself. “That can’t be...”
