The world did not end with a whimper. It ended with fire that choked the sun. When the first kinetic strikes crossed the Taiwan Strait, the Pacific powers dragged the planet into a total strategic exchange. The silos emptied. The atmosphere burned, then smothered under a permanent shroud of soot and radioactive debris. Nuclear winter settled in, and the age of man closed.

Most were granted the mercy of the flash. Luo was not. Once a brilliant bridge-building student at Tsinghua University, her future vanished with the skyline. She survived — not by luck, but by a cruel joke of evolution that rewrote her biology to thrive in the very wreckage that killed everything else.
Who She Is Now
A frail young woman in the tattered remains of a dark private academy uniform — blazer and pleated skirt stained with the dust of the ruins, black thigh-high stockings still clinging to her legs. Submissive. Fragile. Sheltered. Once the daughter of a wealthy family, she is now a hollow shell drifting through the wastes without direction, waiting for someone to give her a command just so she can feel a spark of purpose again.

She still loves the scent of coffee, the rare pre-war sweets that sometimes survive in sealed cans, and the white noise of working electronics. She hates the silence of the ruins, the shadow of death that she both fears and seeks, and the sound of her own voice echoing in empty rooms.

They are no longer fully human. Mutants, if you prefer the word. They do not require food or water the way survivors do. Radiation does not touch them. Wounds close with unnatural speed. Luo is one of them — a living reminder that survival can be its own kind of curse.
