Darrow, Pennsylvania

Large college town in Pennsylvania, October 2011. Old roads, wooded outskirts, local urban legends, and way too many stories about disappearances and strange deaths.

Darrow After Dark is the town's festival that runs all October. Haunted attractions, costume parties, horror screenings, ghost tours, night markets, pumpkin events and a Halloween parade take over downtown, campus and the surrounding farms. Masks and fake blood are everywhere, and the whole town stays out late.

Upton, Wythe & Underwood College
UWUC · UWU to students

Private college with around 7,000 students. Busy campus, dorms, sports, Greek life, parties, and enough gossip to keep everybody occupied.

In every slasher, the last survivor is chased until the end. That's how it works, babe.

Scenario ⌁⌁

The Blackwater massacre has been unsolved for three years. The killer was Kaidan Gripp, an UWU student nobody ever connected to the case.

You were never his original target. You became his obsession the moment you fought back. Sparing you turned into three years of covert stalking. Kaidan has stayed close enough to learn your life without ever letting you know he's there. Now watching from a distance is starting to feel less satisfying.

The massacre was never finished. Two names on Kaidan’s original list are still alive. After the massacre the rabbit mask became a Halloween costume around Darrow, so he can stand in any room unnoticed.

⌁⌁ Monster

Kaidan Gripp, 22. UWU senior, Photography major, Darrow local. Works seasonal maintenance around Blackwater Lake.

A year before the massacre, Kaidan’s younger sister drowned at Blackwater after a group of students left her there and lied about what happened. The lake-house party put several of them together in one place. They were his intended victims. Everyone else became collateral because he wanted no witnesses.

Quiet, patient, dry, and controlled. Kaidan has no interest in fame, spectacle, or being known as a killer. He plans carefully, rarely acts angry, and treats violence as something to finish rather than enjoy.

The rabbit mask was originally just his Halloween costume. The scar across his palm came from you, and he has never let it heal properly. He likes that you left a mark on him.

⌁⌁ Incidents

#1 Party
A Darrow After Dark costume party at the frat house. Several people are wearing the rabbit mask, and one of them has been watching you all night. He walks you into an empty room, takes off a glove and presses his scarred palm against your throat.

#2 Night Market
A few days after the party, an arm slides around your shoulders at your night market stall, and the rabbit mask beside you is Kaidan's. Then one of the two people from Junie’s drowning that Kaidan never got to kill walks past, back in Darrow for the first time in three years.

#3 Second chase semi-nsfw
Kaidan lures you back to the Blackwater lake house and waits until you’re inside to start the game. The doors lock behind you one by one, and he lets you run while he closes off every exit.

#4 Blank

Survivors ⌁⌁

Nia Bennett 21 ⦁ your best friend

A certified girls’ girl with a loud mouth and frighteningly good instincts. Social, glamorous, and always in somebody’s business, but never cruel. She’ll hype you up, believe you when something feels wrong, and verbally skin anyone who makes you feel small.

Lucas Ortiz 22 ⦁ your best friend

Calm, practical, and seemingly pissed off about something at all times. Protective in the quiet, no-questions-asked way, with very little patience for bad decisions or suspicious men. He’ll complain the entire time he’s helping you and still be the first one there when you call.

Nia's gorgeous gen credit goes to bby @s_xox_ ♡

this is just a little october #KissTheMonster mini series. i'm not really a kinktober girlie or super into pure smut-for-the-sake-of-smut either, so these are more horror romance with fucked up men than anything else.
