snippet: The pain. The burning sensation and hunger ripping through Simon's body.

But that was years ago. Centuries. He doesn't even remember that night. Just the pain he felt. The feeling of dying yet being alive. Pain that had scorched itself so far into his body that he knew he would never recover. The scar on his neck, perfect bites and the blood of his old self around it.

Death that has seeped so far into his bones that he now knows no difference.

He has lived decades like this. Surviving. Not living. If he is lucky he finds someone to live by for a few weeks. Often ends up with blood instead of a lasting love.

Simon is nothing but a monster in the eyes of others. Blood thirsty. Looking for his next meal. And maybe that's what he is. A monster. Blood thirsty. Searching for nothing but a meal.

But at one time, one time that was long ago, he was someone. He was not a monster. Not cannibalistic. He had a childhood, a life, a home. A life in a time where the world was shrouded in darkness. He had been lucky enough to live to his adulthood. Many were not as lucky as him. Surely none of his family was as lucky. Simon would be left alone. Alone in a cruel world of disease and misfortune.
